Granite Countertops Cost

Granite Countertops Cost What is the cost of granite countertops? This is a question we get asked all the time and hopefully I can give a quick breakdown to help everyone out.

Granite countertops cost starts with the color you pick and the Price Per Square Foot (PPSF) of that color. Next are the add-ons, this can get pretty extensive at some fabricators. I have seen some quotes where this has increased the bid a significant amount of money. So be cautious of a low PPSF because usually there will be add-ons. There should be a constant few add-ons, which are a polished opening for an undermount sink, a cook top cut out, an edge profile upgrade, a fuel surcharge of some kind and a tear-out fee for removing your old tops.

Colors of granite will dictate your price, just be mindful of that. Chose your slab wisely, you should always physically see your granite countertop slab. I tell all my customers to touch their potential slab, especially if it has movement and color changes. We as fabricators do not polish the surface of the granite slab. If it has pits or lines that you can feel, those pits or lines will always be there.

I hope this helps you get started on your process of picking your granite slabs.
